In a world where chicken is illegal, Tony Chu works as a detective for the FDA. His cibopathy—the ability to experience psychic impressions from anything he consumes—makes him uniquely suited for the job. This often requires him to ingest evidence directly, from murder victims to inanimate objects. The USDA and other rival agencies are aware of his condition and frequently coerce him into their own investigations. Chu navigates a bizarre food-based criminal underworld, contending with smugglers, food-powered assassins, and culinary cults. His partner, John Colby, provides backup while Chu chews his way through grotesque crime scenes in pursuit of the truth.
