A new Cerebra scan reveals a massive mutant signature in the jungles of South America. Professor Xavier dispatches Cyclops and Wolverine to investigate, fresh from their rescue of a mutant named Ugly John from a standard Sentinel. Meanwhile, the anti-mutant lobbyist Donald Trask is given a stark history lesson by the enigmatic Ms. Nova, who frames the rise of mutants as an inevitable genetic succession. She escorts him to a hidden facility where the next stage of this conflict is being forged: the autonomous, self-replicating Wild Sentinels. Back at the mansion, Xavier grapples with a psychic intrusion, narrowly contained by Jean Grey.

The comic where I started reading X-Men, this is where I became in love, this is where Scott became my goat and my fav marvel character and it's not even close, this means a lot to me, def recommend.

8/10. This was my first introduction to X-men and I really really enjoyed it. Although I preferred the earlier art of the earlier issues. I just wish Scott and Jean can just be happy, why must they always have issues? Anyways like I said I really enjoyed this!

jean as interim headmaster was never something i never thought i needed but its fantastic. the introductory cassandra nova arc is alright, i like what comes from it but the standout aspect of the story is how despairful the situations the x-men are placed in which from my current x-men readings are unprecedented. they obviously dont submit to their harsh circumstances but i loved to see how they managed to overcome these impossible battles in this intro story arc.

pretty good comic, some of the plots aren't the best but still good. This made Wolverine become one of my favorites.

Morrison did NOT write this for X-Men fans, he wrote it for the general audience (He said so himself, lol) but that's not the only reason I don't like it that much.

Of course, in this run there have been important moments for future runs that are even mentioned. I'm not saying it's "bad" but honestly it's not the best either.

Perhaps not the most "typical", but surely the best, and personal favorite, X-men run I've read so far. Love how Morrison writes these characters, and their interactions feel so natural. Also, this is one of the few times when I felt the Institute as a real institute and not a background for the X-men.
