The Darkness (1996-2001)

I’ve been a fan of The Darkness for roughly 10 years now, mainly through the games, before reading the original series I read the 2025 run.
This comic series is good for what it was, but something I disliked about this series is that there were many issues where you had to go read another comic series just to get up to date on a specific Antagonist. (Ian Nottingham and Sovereign).
This story also contradicts itself at various points. About 15-20 issues in, it states that the story takes place 2 weeks since the first issue. Thats alright, but then the sudden jump where Jackie is 22? (thats expressed within the last 5-6 issues)
The last contradiction that should be mentioned, is a spoiler. But theres a issue where Uncle Frankie says something to Jackie about how he should get with Jenny. In which Jackie responds with “Thats like doing your own sister”, now WHY in the VERY LAST issue, did Jackie tell the reader that he loved Jenny since they met? Its so strange and it makes me wonder if the writer of the last few issues even read the Sonatine story. (when the brotherhood of darkness/ Sonatine was the antagonist.)
