Wonder Woman (1942-2011)

Ares and Aphrodite’s celestial debate over humanity’s fate has spilled onto the mortal plane. The god of war, now called Mars, has dispatched his armies to subjugate women across the world. In response, Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, receives a divine gift from Aphrodite: a magic girdle that grants its wearer formidable power. Wielding this strength, she leads her warriors to a decisive victory against the forces of Hercules. His subsequent surrender proves a deception; after a feigned peace and seduction, he seizes the girdle while Hippolyta is vulnerable. Stripped of their divine protection, the Amazons are bound in chains.
