The Darkness (2025-)

Having read the first issue of this reboot, and having read the original series in essentially its entirety, I can say I'm pretty cautiously optimistic for where it's going to go.

What I appreciate about this reboot is that it manages to be somehow both as sexualized as it was before, while at the same time not being as overtly crass about it.

I especially liked that it seemed to follow the original first issue scene for scene up until it subverts that built-up expectation (provided you are going into this having read and remember the original series and it's very first issue) by having the actual climax of this issue being what essentially amounts to a "Bitch Fit" between Sonatine and the Angeles sandwiched on either side of a very uncomfortable Jackie (with Jenny equally grossed out, as the bartender) at the bar. Absolutely hilarious.

I'm especially interested in the "will-they/won't-they childhood friend romance" between Jackie and Jenny.

A promising first issue!
