Sandman Presents: Lucifer (1999)

The piano in Lux, a Los Angeles jazz bar, plays for a new owner. Lucifer Morningstar, having abdicated his throne, now tends to the corporeal world's vices from behind a polished counter. His retirement is interrupted by the arrival of Amenadiel, an emissary from a concerned Heaven. A nameless entity is moving through the city, granting mortal wishes with catastrophic, reality-warping consequences. Fearing the fabric of creation will unravel, the celestial host has contracted the former ruler of Hell as a disinterested party to find the source. Lucifer accepts, his investigation a cold transaction in a world overheating with desperate dreams.
