For two millennia, the Sect of Anubis has sustained itself in the shadows, its members extending their lives through a grim ritual. Every thirty years, they must capture a human vessel to temporarily house the spirit of the cursed Egyptian High Priestess Nebetah, only to murder her and consume her blood. This cycle of sacrifice and enslavement has remained uninterrupted. Now, their latest chosen vessel has broken the pattern. She resists the possession with a ferocity the ancient cult did not anticipate, disrupting their precise and bloody timetable.
