On the desolate surface of Gorlam Prime, the detective Nightbeat pursues a cold trail. His investigation into the fate of the first Ark has led him to this remote world, a place where the usual rules of evidence seem to break down. The presence of the Micromasters complicates his search, their small-scale operations hinting at a larger, unseen conflict. As he delves deeper, the mystery itself begins to resist his logic, presenting a form of menace his analytical mind cannot process.
