A serial killer is targeting corrupt billionaires across the city, leaving only a single green arrow lodged in each corpse. Dinah Lance, operating as Absolute Black Canary, is assigned to the executive protection detail tasked with identifying the murderer. Her investigation leads her through a web of suspects, all of whom are archers with direct ties to the recently murdered Oliver Queen. The killer's methods are precise, the arrows are the only signature. Dinah must navigate the city's elite circles and the dangerous underworld of professional protection to find the hunter before the next body drops. The streets are watching.

The best Absolute ongoing by a long shot currently. The characters and drama are super compelling. Also yay Grundy!

Crazy recency bias, let it saturate for at least a few issues.

He might not be anyone, it's not like every character we see has to match to someone from mainline. could just be a very unfortunate rando

i was hype for it and enjoyed the first issue and most of the second issue a lot, but the way they treated conner was just kinda odd? i do want to know what happens but just depicting conner as an angry boy with a gun who then get immediately killed off has some racist undertones esp when ghost arrow seems to fully recognize dinah and would probably know what conner looked like since he was looking for him ntm the fact dc has recently been critiqued for their treatment and sidelining of their black characters. just makes the whole thing seem super off

My first guess was Ollie had to fake Conner's death.

this is probably the best absolute comic that I've read so far. This is a great jump on point for someone trynna get into green arrow comics and it shows Oliver's characterization incredibly well

its a shame they killed off connor so quickly, but i still have hope that its a fake-out cause he looks less poised than the others. Hopefully they make it so The Green Arrow is Oliver but this comic seems pretty street level so it might just be one of or all of Oliver's friends getting together to kill all of ollies killers

I would like to see more parallels drawn between the clandestine violence of wealth extraction and the brazen violence of vigilante justice. More than simply “rich people bad”, I want to see the destructive methods used to extract wealth and why these billionaires are absolute villains rather than good men corrupted. If this series leans into the standard “oppression bad but murder worse” platitude, I will be incredibly disappointed.
I’ve really enjoyed Dinah’s internal strife and the general sense of mystery that surrounds many of the characters and haunts the plot. The art is excellent and the page layouts are intriguing. I’ve enjoyed chapters 1 and 2 and I’m excited to continue this series!!

Yeah, it's crazy how much I am enjoying this series, but also how drastically my opinion could change depending on how the series pans out over the next 3-9 issues.

Kinda hate that they killed Connor in the second issue. Not many black characters DC puts to use and he becomes green arrow himself for crying out loud. Wish he woulda stayed a supporting character. Hopefully it's a fake out.

Can you be more specific what you mean by "slop"? I think it's better to make comments with substance that address specific criticisms rather than using empty buzz words.

I guess I assumed that people comment about whether or not they like a comic in a public forum because they want to engage meaningfully with other people about the comic book, to make their perspective heard and understood by others.

But if that's not your intention, then perhaps there's no reason why you shouldn't just say "slop" and leave it at that.

I do fear with pacing this decompressed and introspective, there isn't much room in 24 pages to really develop a setting. But I would be happy to be proven wrong!

Billionaires are literally being lynched in this story, the subject seems pretty damned relevant. Seemed like everyone was talking a LOT about the effect of billionaires on society when the United Healthcare guy was shot. Why wouldn't people be talking about it here?

I haven't seen it myself but it's a much darker take on Robin hood. It is essentially saying the myth of Robin hood is just a childhood fairy tale making a hero of a thief. He's not necessarily to be celebrated for stealing from the rich. Not that they care for the rich perse, they know these people being stolen from are bad as well. Or at least that's what Robin hood tells himself. It just puts Robin hood from someone to celebrate to a very morally gray area. Idk the comment just made me think of it

it doesn't seem like it's going in that direction to me. it seems like what's it's trying to say is moreso "people should do their part to make conditions better in their communities rather than just waiting for someone to kill every rich person"

Finally someone who actually reads the fucking comic omg. I would catch the concern if the series established a "Good guy" billionare but it doesnt do it. Just go to saying it the world is more grey like to having someone being judge and executor.
