Astonishing X-Men (1999)

The Mannites are being systematically hunted by Death, a horseman of Apocalypse. In the face of this targeted extinction, Phoenix and Cyclops are assembling a new roster of mutants. Their mission is singular: to intercept the horseman before the last of the Mannites are erased. The selection process is urgent and brutal, with each potential member carrying a unique vulnerability to the coming conflict. The air in the X-Mansion is thick with the static of telepathic scans and the scent of ozone from disrupted energy signatures. A final roster is being decided under the cold light of the Danger Room.
