All that remains is the silent, watchful presence of the last son of a dead world, an entity for whom concepts like ally and enemy have lost their meaning.

The way that this is articulated makes you feel things that are indescribable, like in a trance that makes you elated and hopeful. To me, this has helped me a lot in having empathy in this world that is not.

honestly the most interesting in the Absolute series. the story and visuals make this stick out A LOT. everything about this is done so beautifully, I'm not sure if I'll find another comic similar to this

Absolute Martian Manhunter is a series you need to slow when to understand. In a comic book environment filled with bigger and flashier flights all trying to surpass the previous high, Camp and Rodriguez instead tell us a measured story full of metaphors and philosophy. The surrealism of the art and story is beautiful, and the contrast of that choice with the grounded, emotional core is stunning. I'm this way, we project our own lives into such a grounded story, only for them to become surreal as we transcend our physical experiences alongside John Jones to see the beautiful reality that can be found beneath our tragedy.

The art and writing is so beautiful and unique. I’ve never felt that I understood- until now- how writing, let alone any medium could properly convey the feeling of…. Feelings! Thought! Concept! Javier and David did a masterful job, taking advantage of every corner of the medium of comics. I feel as though I’ve learned empathy all over again. It’s such a shame its one of absolute’s shortest runs. 💔

One of the most insane comics I've ever read. We will never have anything like this again! The art is one thing – beautiful and unique – but also the writing of the characters, paired with their dialogue, is something I've never seen before!

Pity it ended. Torn between wanting it to go on and being worried that nobody will top Camp and Rodriguez, but then again The Absolute Universe in general seems to be wanting to wrap up, so who knows, maybe they'll be back

the only comic im only buying in print because it was meant to be read that way imo, the “hold the page to the light” gimmick made me instantly realize that. I am eagerly waiting for volume 2 to drop but Volume 1 I have read and god is it so good.

My first interaction with the Absolute Universe and I've really liked this one. It's such an interesting and unique comic, both in its psychedelic visuals in the art and writing that explored the psyche of the characters. I hope to see more of this level of quality in the other comics of this universe

I’ve never really been into reading comics, but this is one of the few stories that draws you in just by reading a little bit of its intriguing plot and seeing the spectacular art

Almost cried like twelve times. The art is amazing, writing is life-changing, Martians are cute. So sad it had to end, but it felt right.

i read this legit but its genuinely life-changing. I love you, absolute martian manhunter. I genuinely think that this'll be hailed as one of the greats from the absolute line or this era of comics, just as absolute batman and absolute wonder woman are. It's also a great entry point into comics for people who hate capeshit; it's not a superhero comic at all but a meditation on emotion, connection, and the meaning of reality.
