Sally Blevins, known as Skids, is a Marvel Comics character who first appeared in "X-Factor" Vol. 1, issue #7, in 1986. Created by Louise Simonson and Jackson Guice, Skids is a mutant with the ability to generate a force field around herself, which provides her with substantial protection and agility. This power emerged during a traumatic incident in her youth, where it shielded her from her abusive father but unfortunately prevented her from saving her mother.
Skids initially lived as a runaway among the Morlocks, an underground society of mutants. Her association with the Morlocks placed her in conflict with Masque, a fellow mutant who attempted to alter her appearance but was thwarted by her protective abilities. Her life changed significantly when she encountered Rusty Collins amid a conflict involving Freedom Force and X-Factor. Skids and Rusty formed a close bond, eventually leading to their integration into X-Factor, where they received training to control and refine their powers.

As a member of X-Factor, Skids developed a deeper understanding of her abilities. Her force field not only protected her from harm but also allowed her to withstand Rusty's flames and other attacks. This skill set was pivotal when she joined forces with the New Mutants and donned the moniker of the X-Terminators to rescue kidnapped mutant children during the "Inferno" event. Her role in these groups showcased her bravery and resourcefulness, as well as her commitment to protecting others.
Major Incarnations
Skids' journey took a darker turn when she and Rusty Collins were imprisoned due to false accusations by Freedom Force. Their escape led to an association with the Mutant Liberation Front (MLF), a decision driven by desperation and the need to survive. Unfortunately, their involvement with the MLF, and subsequent brainwashing by the group's leader, Stryfe, tarnished their reputations and turned them into unwilling antagonists.

Her affiliation with the MLF and subsequent brainwashing represent a significant deviation from her earlier heroic efforts, highlighting the complexity of her character's moral journey.
