Ghost Rider (Blaze) is a Marvel Comics character, primarily known as Johnny Blaze, the Spirit of Vengeance. Created by Roy Thomas, Gary Friedrich, and Mike Ploog, he first appeared in "Marvel Spotlight" #5 in 1972. Johnny Blaze's journey began in the world of motorcycle stunts, growing up as the son of famed stunt performer Barton Blaze. His signature power is the Penance Stare, a terrifying ability that forces victims to experience all the pain they have inflicted on others. Additionally, he controls hellfire, which he uses in various forms, from projecting blasts to enhancing his motorcycle rides. Ghost Rider is also immortal, with the ability to track and sense death, making him a relentless force against evil.
Major Versions and Incarnations
Throughout his history, Johnny Blaze has undergone several transformations and alliances. Initially, he continued performing as a stuntman while grappling with his dual identity. During this period, he joined forces with The Champions, a Los Angeles-based superhero team, though he eventually left due to his solitary nature. His primary adversary during this time was the villain known as Orb, but he also faced numerous other threats sent by Mephisto.
