Kon-El, also known as Conner Kent, is a prominent character in DC Comics, widely recognized as Superboy. He first appeared in "Adventures of Superman" #500 in June 1993, created by Karl Kesel and Tom Grummett. Kon-El is a genetically engineered clone, created from the DNA of Superman and Lex Luthor. Superboy was initially developed by Project Cadmus to fill the void left by Superman's death at the hands of Doomsday. Here, he confronted various adversaries, building his own rogue's gallery, including foes like Knockout and King Shark. His tenure in Hawaii was marked by a personal struggle with the Clone Plague, a condition affecting other Cadmus clones, which he ultimately survived.

Major Versions and Incarnations

In the Modern Age, Kon-El's narrative evolved significantly. Initially known as Superboy of the New Earth continuity, he embraced his identity and became a key figure in the superhero community, often teaming up with other young heroes. His journey included significant story arcs such as the "Fall of Metropolis," where he aided Superman and Supergirl in minimizing the destruction caused by Lex Luthor.

Post-Flashpoint, in the Prime Earth continuity, Kon-El's origins were revisited. Here, he was created by the clandestine organization N.O.W.H.E.R.E. as a trans-terrestrial clone, combining Kryptonian and human DNA. This version of Superboy featured an even more complex genetic background, including DNA from Superman, Lois Lane, and their potential future son, Jon Lane Kent. This incarnation faced challenges from N.O.W.H.E.R.E., clashing with the Teen Titans and other metahumans, while grappling with his rapidly evolving telekinetic abilities.
